After many centuries of invasions, starting at the end of the 12th Century and the early 13th Century, a new generation of medieval towns, attested from the documentary point of view in various chronicles, have emerged. Surviving throughout the years up to our present times, are such medieval towns (founded by the Transylvanian Saxons) as Sighisoara, Brasov, Sibiu, Medias, Cluj-Napoca, Bistrita and Sebes.
