Stretching along 244 kilometers, the Romanian Black Sea coast, due to the fine sand of its beaches and the low salinity of the water as compared to other seas, provides many entertainment and relaxation opportunities such as water ski, motor scooters, toboggans, to say nothing of the curing qualities of its waters, the mud of Techirghiol Lake, the sea air and ultra violet sun rays in the southern area in particular (72 kilometers) which are the main tourist attractions in Romania in summertime.
As compared to other sea coast resorts, the vater’s depth at the shoreline is rather shallow, but it differs from one resort to the other. In Mamaia the water level decreases slowly, over a wide area, as against Neptun where the water level increases rather rapidly. Oriented eastward, the Romanian Black Sea coast provides great sun bathing opportunities – over 12 hours daily – in full summer season. Accommodation opportunities include over 240 hotels with various conveniences, villas, chalets and camping sites.
The sea coast could be the starting point for various trips throughout the country such as to the Danube Delta, the monasteries of Bucovina, Bucharest and the Prahova Valley or for overseas vacations in Turkey, Greece or Bulgaria. The great numbers of visitors to the seacoast have the opportunity to admire many tourist objectives and to enjoy its beaches.
